Our History

MCCBR was founded as an outreach of MCC Richmond. Ten people attended the first organizational meeting on December 7, 1986, and the inaugural service was held December 14, 1986.

In the beginning, MCCBR was graciously housed by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke on Grandin Road. In 1998, the church had grown and was able to lease a storefront location at 110 Kirk Avenue. In 1999, the church moved to the bigger location of 224 Kirk Avenue to accommodate even more growth. Four years later, the church moved to 806 Jamison Avenue, the former Belmont Methodist church building, where the inaugural service was held on November 16, 2003.

We have sold the church building on Jamison Avenue and are temporarily sharing worship space with Valley Community Church, Divine Science.
