Jane S. Glenn Memorial Scholarship

Goal and Mission

Since 2007, this scholarship has been dedicated to supporting students who are not only committed to academic excellence but also demonstrate diligence in their studies and a heart for serving their community.

 

Our mission is to help driven and deserving students pursue their college dreams by offering encouragement, recognition, and financial support.

About Jane

Jane was an outstanding attorney, serving locally in the Roanoke area. She had a distinguished career of service to the public and service to the bar. Jane demonstrated a commitment to supporting individual excellence in all endeavors, whether in acts of charity or efforts to achieve higher education.

 

Jane had a passion for education and pursuing dreams. The scholarship bearing her name memorializes this passion and pursuance. Jane’s outstanding service to the Roanoke area and Metropolitan Community Church of the Blue Ridge, as well as her significant professional accomplishments as an attorney in this community, are forever remembered through the Jane S. Glenn Memorial Scholarship.

Scholarship Information

Typically, the scholarship amount varies. However, the minimum amount is usually $500.

Student must have a GPA of at least 3.0 for the semester/term preceding receipt of the application by MCC of the Blue Ridge and must be accepted, or expect to be accepted, prior to the next fall semester, into an accredited college or university.

The number of scholarships awarded each year may vary and is in the sole discretion of the Board. Endowments and contributions are encouraged by any interested persons or institutions.

The applicant must:

  • Complete and timely submit the application form approved by the Board

  • Attach two letters of recommendation dated during the current school year, one of which must be from a teacher or instructor

  • Include a statement on why the applicant should be a recipient of the scholarship

  • Include an official copy of the applicant’s latest grade transcript (3.0 GPA minimum requirement).

 

Failure to include these items will disqualify the applicant.

Time Table

Applications must be postmarked no later than August 1 of each year. Applications shall be mailed to Jane S. Glenn Memorial Endowed Scholarship, Metropolitan Community Church of the Blue Ridge.
